Ricochet Designs - Jewelry made from bullet cartridges
My name is Lili Somorjai, and I am the founder and designer behind Ricochet Designs. I created the brand with the intention of making handmade jewelry that is at once distinctive, bold, and full of meaning. To me, jewelry is more than just an accessory: it is self-expression, mood, and a small yet powerful reflection of who we are.
The word ricochet originally refers to a rebound, most commonly used to describe the movement of a bullet. This name feels deeply connected to the world my brand represents, as one of the most unique materials I work with is spent cartridge cases from shooting ranges, used during target practice. For me, Ricochet not only reflects a direct connection to ammunition, but also symbolizes the transformation at the heart of the brand: a raw object with an entirely different original purpose is given a new direction and reborn as something aesthetic, valuable, and unique.
This kind of rethinking and upcycling is especially important to me. I love the idea that a used material does not lose its value, but instead can become part of a new story. In this process, cartridge cases are not only unusual materials for me, but also symbols of strength, character, renewal, and individuality.
In my work, I use stainless steel because it is durable, long-lasting, and hypoallergenic, allowing me to create pieces that are not only beautiful but also comfortable and practical to wear over time. I also frequently work with Swarovski crystals and gemstones, which bring elegance, sparkle, and a unique atmosphere to each piece. Together, these materials create the distinctive balance that defines the world of Ricochet Designs: the meeting point of rawness and elegance, strength and femininity.
Every piece is handmade with great care and attention to detail. It is important to me that my jewelry not only looks beautiful, but also conveys personality.
